What Clients Say
We value the relationships we build with our clients. We know that when they trust us with their new project, we have a responsibility to them, and we take that very seriously. After partnering with us, our clients return to us for advice and guidance with future projects. We go out of our way because, to us, it is not always about the job, it is about our clients’ vision. We build structures to the highest standards that withstand time, while establishing a framework for future projects—whether we are chosen to take them on or not. As partners and supporters of our clients, we share their vision and treat their facilities with respect, not just as means to an end.
But don't take our word for it, see what our satisfied customers have to say about their experience.
We needed someone who could do anywhere from a $5000 project up to a $15 million project. They were the people who would do that. They are customer oriented and they would serve any need I had. They are very trustworthy people. When we decided to move Duracell research from Massachusetts to Bethel, CT, I went single-source to them. I didn’t go to anybody else because I knew they would do the work I needed. If I had a small part of the job, they would do that, or if it was a large part. I had total faith in them.
Bigelow Fleming is the gold standard for how renovations happen on campus. They can handle any project. I make sure that they are included in front-end projects where it needs to be presentable, and long term projects because they make sure there is very little that I have to go back to after the fact. When other renovations are taking place, I have to babysit them more. I don’t have to watchdog Bigelow Fleming. They are responsible, very reliable, and self-sufficient. When I give them a job, before you know it, it’s done and I had to say very little. Bigelow Fleming makes my life easier.
I joke that sometimes their superintendents would have a vacuum in their hand more than a hammer. When you work in a space with classes going on and high foot traffic, you don’t want to see dust everywhere. Bigelow Fleming would take care of the place as if it was their own living room. All colleges have occupied spaces and the work is year-round. For me, if I can keep the customers happy and the level of disruption, inconvenience and dust is kept to a minimum, then I am doing a good job.
The key value they bring to the table is that they look not only at one-off projects, but they form partnerships with clients. What they are really focused on is not only the quality of the construction, but also the customer interaction and really trying to take ownership of projects. They weren’t just in there to do a quick job and leave. They provide a lot more. They are much more interested in what the client is working on long-term, and establishing the relationship.
It is hugely important to us, as a small non-profit, to be working with an organization like Bigelow Fleming that was committed to our mission and also had wonderful handy men on the job. Our budget was $1.5 million. We met our goal and were able, in the end, to establish a small building fund for repairs moving forward. They would suggest changes that were not going to compromise the design at all but were going be more prudent and frugal for us. I requested a built-in window seat that was not in the plan. Tom designed it himself and had his carpenters custom-make this built in window seat. It was really above and beyond and a really lovely thing they did. It was great for us to work with them.
Their personality and the ease of our working relationship stood out. Every employee, even the gentleman that does bidding, was great. They all cared a lot about the project and the site. If there were issues, they made sure they were resolved quickly. There is always something when you are building, even raising issues about how you interpret a plan. Bigelow Fleming was very quick to respond to any issues so they didn’t lose any time on the project.
